WHILE WE WERE AWAKE: A POEM BY EMMALIZER
WHILE WE WERE AWAKE
A POEM BY EMMALIZER
While we were awake,
The snoring of the stressed breed,
Can engulf the room space,
Like a speaker tuned at it's high peak,
Rolling from West to the East corners of the bed,
To find comfort that is forthcoming,
While we were awake
On my knees,
Alongside with my clutched hands facing the roof,
The eyes not left behind though they are closed,
My mouth, whose lips touch each other muttered the sounds of prayer,
While we were awake,
Something around forenoon under the duvet,
Served with a cup of coffee and toasted bread,
I am a caressing breed,
The tip of my cup should catch all the feelings,
While we were awake,
All dressed up,
This time it is not for official use,
The movement of the agbada right on time,
I guess my next door neighbor need no personal talk,
While we were awake,
I want to flaunt my trusted ride,
What Nigerians call, "Legidi-Benz", (Laughs),
A damsel waiting outside as my party source,
She was amazed but in some seconds, her cheeks dropped,
Whispering made way into my left ear,
She did that,
While we were awake,
I whispered back,
Let's trek down through the street's red carpet,
While others are asleep.
