ARROGANCE OF DESTINY
EPISODE 9. FAR EAST OF BINI KINGDOM: YEAR 1566.
Boka remembered his father telling them that the army of the kingdom of the giant prince was marching on their kingdom.
When an arrow entered his mother’s chest; the oiled, cooked yam fell from her hand.
He remembered his father using his leg to open a hole through the wall of the hut; the hurricane lamp had set mama wrapper on fire.
“Run, Boka, don’t leave your sister,” his father shouted before running towards a Bini warrior that saw them escaping.
Boka didn’t look back, he kept running and dragging his sister, Sosa, along, when he heard his father cried out in pain. “Run Boka, run.” So he ran the more.
The day became dark; his little sister fell. “Boka… ahh…it hurts, mummy oo.”
When Boka saw the arrow in her back, he didn’t see any other logical solution than to pull it out; he was only six.
They have slept that night, he thought he heard her asking if they have killed her, but he pretended to sleep. Their mother usually had pretended to sleep to lure Sosa to sleep. Well, she slept.
He had carried and dragged her for another full day and slept by her side for another full night, before it dawned on him.
