The Beautiful Black Liquid: A Poem By ThankGod Peterside

The Beautiful Black Liquid

A Poem By ThankGod Peterside

Oil of gain,
Oil of pain,
Oil of shame,

How long will you keep tormenting us?
How long will you keep moving us to and fro?
You live freely in our land.

But you return home costly after going overseas,
I know you are the only black beautiful daughter of Mother Earth,
You're always abused on a daily basis especially by people who share same color as you,

I wish you could speak or fight for your right,
But there's a reason for your existence in our Father land,
You where such a great blessing when you were discovered,

Apparently it seems you've turned into a curse,
People who tried to make changes around you,
Left behind others who cried,

Some people pray that your beauty fades away soon as you age,
Corruption they say now hides your true beauty.
