Poetry-Our Father's Land By Fortune Emudia
Poetry - Our Father's Land
A Poem about Nigeria written by Fortune Emudia
It is almost like a curse on us that we were born into this land,
Though the land is green,
we still get hungry.
A land full of agony, hatred and despair.
A land whose backbone is rivalry and chaos.
Our Father's Land has now become a curse on us.
Though the land is full of pure minerals and Earth's treasure.
Our people are scared to dream.
That we see not our dreams being crushed and thrown into crash for disposal.
This land begot us and ended us.
So we call ourselves zero and not heroes.
It is a land full of reasons to give up and reason to surrender.
But our nature says "no". It is our nature to live, not minding but doing.
Our nature is to serve, not asking but working.
This nature is what gives us strength and this strength is our hope.
And so, our Father's Land is the land where hope wins.
The land of hope.
